Choosing
Which plan is for you
Start free if you want to find out whether you'll actually catch moments. The free plan is a real record, not a demo: a day note written for you every day, the calendar, reminders, the export, and weekly recaps one a month so you can see what one reads like. Nothing in it expires.
Pro is for the retrieval. If the recap is the thing you open, the difference between one a month and every week is most of the product, and the monthly and yearly retrospectives are where the Tuesday you couldn't account for turns out to have been part of something. What a recap actually contains, and what Ask Wonaby can and can't do, is walked through step by step on how it works.
What happens when Pro ends
Nothing you wrote changes. Every moment and day note stays on your phone, the export works on every plan, and you go back to the free plan's limits in the table above.
Moments tagged with a category that's no longer included keep their tag and colour. If you'd made more custom categories or tags than the free plan allows, Wonaby switches off the least-used extras rather than deleting them, and tells you so; nothing you switched off gets switched back on for you. Past Ask Wonaby conversations stay on your phone to read and keep, but starting a new one needs Pro again. The detail on each of these is on the features page.
“What happens to my life if you shut down?”
Fair question, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a reassuring noise. You can export everything you've written, photos included, into one file you keep — readable text, a data file, or both. It's on every plan, free included, and Wonaby deletes its copy the moment you've saved it.
It also isn't hypothetical insurance. Your journal is end-to-end encrypted and sealed on your device before it syncs, which means there is no readable server-side copy to lose, hand over or leak in the first place. The record of your own life shouldn't depend on whether a company still exists in ten years.
One more thing worth saying plainly: Wonaby is funded by subscriptions. No ads, no data sales, no investor pushing for growth at any cost. If the app is genuinely worth paying for, it lasts. That is the whole arrangement, and there's more on who is building it and how.
